Library services

Access to the library

Access to the Chemistry Library is allowed both to institutional users (that is University of Padova students, professors, researchers, PhDs, etc) and guest users. External users need to buy a Library System guest user card in order to access the library and its services.

The library is on the 2nd floor of Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche main building and is wheelchair accessible. Users are requested to leave their Padova University badge at the circulation desk.

It is forbidden to bring bulky luggage into the library. Users can put their bags into the library lockers, measuring 47x34x32.

The library has 70 seats. Users can check the availability of seats via the Affluences app.

Welcome and orientation

The staff at the welcome and orientation desk provide the users with all the information they need about the Library services.

At the entrance, there is a PC dedicated to consulting the online catalog.

Books and journals are kept in closed shelves, users must ask the staff at the desk for the documents they need.

Books are placed on the shelves following Dewey Classification System.

Printing and copying service

The Library System offers a technologically advanced Photocopying and Printing Service, Alba myPrint. With myPrint Service you can easily photocopy, print, and scan through a self-service system, using peripheral printers installed at the libraries of the University. In just a few easy steps you can create an account on the myPrint portal using your University badge and directly manage the main activities online, such as uploading credit or sending documents to be printed.

The service is also available to guest users who have a Library System guest user card.

The myPrint service allows you to make copies using any of the printers available in the libraries and copying centres of the University. It is possible to send your printouts using any PC or personal device (PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets). It is also possible to scan documents, which are sent as PDF files directly to your e-mail address.

The myPrint service allows you to use a credit card to upload the amount of credit you want using designated machines located within the libraries or via the online myPrint portal.

Computers and netbooks

The library provides:

• 1 computer for catalogue search, at the entrance.
• 8 computers connected to the Internet and to the University of Padova Digital Library.
• 1 workstation dedicated to the use of ChemDraw and CCDC database
• 16 netbooks that can be borrowed and used inside the library.

The library has large tables with power connections, where personal devices can be plugged.

The library provides free Eduroam Wi-Fi connection to the Internet.

Borrowing conditions change depending on the different categories of users and of books.
